Do you think Obama have the right to lecture African Americans?

It seems some people agree with Jessie Jackson on this subject, they do not think Barack Obama have the right to lecture African Americans on how to raise their kids. I was reading an article by Ben Cohen at Huffington Post in which he made the following argument:

The absent father issue he [Barack Obama] describes in the African American community is a real problem, but has a complex and long reaching history that Obama does not go far enough in recognizing. He has spoken eloquently about race in America (particularly after the Rev. Wright debacle), but is now using the topic to allay fears of the white community that he isn't a radical. Obama knows that he cannot become a 'black candidate' like Rev. Jesse Jackson, or Al Sharpton as he will alienate the millions of white voters he is hoping to capture in the general election. Lecturing the black community is the perfect way to do this, and Jackson was right in calling him out on it (although he may not have wanted to).

Obama does not share the same history as the African American community he is speaking to. He is of direct African descent and was raised by a white mother and white grandparents. Obama's father came to America by choice, and his ancestors were not subjected to hundreds of years of murder, abuse and humiliation.

He also talks about the differences between the Africans that immigrated to this country and the African Americans that were born here and decended from slaves.

Recent African immigrants are one of the most successful immigrant communities in America. The average annual personal income of African immigrants is about $26,000 -- nearly $2,000 more than that of workers born in the U.S.There are no widespread problems related to absent fathers, and the average African immigrant is better educated than the average American. I lived in West Africa (Ghana) for a number of months, and was amazed at the vibrant culture, iron clad family structures and lack of crime.

The difference between the two peoples -- who are genetically the same, is remarkable. After 400 years of slavery, humiliation, economic inequality, unemployment and prejudice, issues like poverty, crime and broken family structures still persist. Rather than ask why black fathers won't take responsibility for themselves, the only thing we should be asking is how any family structure exists at all given the circumstances. It is a testament to the strength of the African American community that they continue to thrive despite the horrific history of their people.

He goes on to explain that Obama is in a tight situation in this election, he basically have to comfort white voters but at the the same time assure African American voters that he's one of them.

Obama knows the topic will endear him to white voters -- those quietly afraid of too many blacks in their neighborhoods, and afraid Obama may share their anger. Obama is playing the tricky game of being 'tough on crime, and tough on the causes of crime'. He must be seen by African Americans to be one of them, and by whites to share their fears and concerns. It is politics at its highest skill level, and Obama is in danger of alienating one side or the other. He has played it well in the past, but playing to a national audience means the stakes are higher. The truth is, Obama would never lecture white audiences about 'taking responsibility' for many of the problems persistent in their communities. Poverty, unemployment and crime are huge 'white' problems, but Obama does not dedicate speeches to it. He has already made some alarming shifts to the center, enraging progressives who paid for his election. Let's hope he doesn't forget the people who struggled so valiantly so he could even get elected.

The Prosecution of George Bush for Murder.

WATCH OUT WASHINGTON! HERE COMES Vincent Bugliosi’s, Make no mistake, things have been done to America in these recent years that are unwise, unjust, unconscionable, unacceptable and un-American by President George Bush who pursues his partisanship, his profiteering, his perjury, his pardons and his power that are frankly, according to best-selling author Vincent Bugliosi, unpardonable.

In The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, Bugliosi presents a tight, meticulously researched legal case that puts George W. Bush on trial in an American courtroom for the murder of nearly 4,000 American soldiers fighting the war in Iraq. Bugliosi sets forth the legal architecture and incontrovertible evidence that President Bush took this nation to war in Iraq under false pretenses-a war that has not only caused the deaths of American soldiers but also over 100,000 innocent Iraqi men, women, and children; cost the United States over one trillion dollars thus far with no end in sight; and alienated many American allies in the Western world.

Make no mistake, the hourglass is running out of sand for the darker impulses of this decider of our national politics and his destructive policies.

Make no mistake, the hourglass is running out of sand for the darker impulses of this decider of our national politics and his destructive policies.

In The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder (Vanguard Press, 2008), Bugliosi, the man who successfully prosecuted Charles Manson for murder, argues convincingly that President George W. Bush's conduct in taking the US military to war against Iraq under false pretenses in March of 2003 qualifies him to be prosecuted for murder in any state in the nation. Written in an in-your-face gutsy style, Bugliosi manifestly maps out Bush's destiny.

Despite a virtual press blackout, Vincent Bugliosi's book has became a national best seller and is fast becoming a cult fave amongst outraged Constitution loving, Bill-of-Rights adherents, Declaration of Independence followers, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Greens and Independent Americans alike.

I think this is a book I will need to pick up. I hope like hell Bush is held accountable for his crimes and destructible behavior.

Bernie Mac Makes 'Inappropriate' Jokes at Obama Fundraiser

ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports: Chicago native Bernie Mac may have been a little too loose with the jokes at a Barack Obama fundraiser Friday night, leading some ticket goers to heckle the comedian about his jokes about women at the presidential candidate's event.

Mac introduced Obama for the $2,300-a-head fundraiser at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago and opened with his typical humor.

"My little nephew came to me and he said, 'Uncle, what's the difference between a hypothetical question and a realistic question?'" Mac told the crowd, "I said, ‘I don't know,’ but I said, 'I'll tell you what you do. Go upstairs and ask your mother if she'd make love to the mailman for $50,000.’”

The joke continued with the mother saying she'd sleep "with anyone" for $50,000 -- and then continuing to include Mac's daughter hypothetically answering the question in the same way.

"Hypothetically speaking, we should have $100,000. But realistically speaking we live with two hos,” Mac said delivering the punch line that solicited a few hecklers in the political crowd.

"It's not funny. Let's get Barack on," someone shouted from the crowd.

Mac introduced Obama shortly after, and Obama called him a "great friend."

Near the end of Obama's remarks, the Illinois Senator included a rebuke of his comedian friend in a regular stump speech riff about divisions that still exist in America.

"We can't afford to be divided by race. We can't afford to be divided by religion, or by region or class. Or by gender. That means, by the way, Bernie you got to clean up your act. This is a family affair. … I'm just messing with you," Obama said.

The Obama campaign was equally quick to distance themselves from Mac's off-color comments, with Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki saying, "Sen. Obama told Bernie Mac that he doesn't condone these statements and believes what was said was inappropriate."

McCain Adviser: Raise Retirement Age To 70

It's coming.

According to Phil Gramm, senior economic adviser to John McCain, the retirement age will have to be raised.

Gramm told the Washington Times that a bipartisan deal might include raising the retirement age to 70 over 30 years, indexing the benefits of wealthier retirees to inflation rather than the more generous wage rate, and creating a private account program for younger workers.

This means that if you are 40 and under, you will be working as much as 5 years longer than your parents did.

There you have it folks, Republicans want you to work as slaves for corporations until you drop dead. What a plan, if you're dead then the government doesn't have to pay Social Security. Let's not forget administrations for decades have borrowed money from the Social Security trust fund, if they put back the money they've borrowed instead of blowing in their oil wars, there wouldn't be a problem with Social Security and we could all look forward to retiring at the age of 65 with full benefits.

McCains economic advisor says Americans are a nation of whiners

This was supposed to be John McCain's week to re-re-launch his campaign, this time with a tightly focused message about the economy and how he plans to fix it. He had a nicely staged debut in Denver, even if the experts quickly demanded to know how he could preserve George Bush's tax cuts, stay in Iraq and yet balance the federal budget by 2013. Details, details! Still, McCain was back in the game.

Then a one-man thundercloud named Phil Gramm rained on McCain's Main Street parade.

In one of the more boneheaded remarks in recent presidential politics (and Gramm has uttered others) the former Texas senator declared that we are in the midst of a "mental recession" and that we have "sort of become a nation of whiners."

McCain, polls show, is struggling to persuade voters—even in his own party—that Republicans deserve to retain stewardship of the economy. Obama and the Democrats are way ahead in polls on questions related to jobs, health care, gas prices, business regulation, the mortgage mess—you name it.

At a time of $4-a-gallon gasoline (or more), of falling home prices in most American cities, of skyrocketing food costs and steadily rising unemployment rates, dismissing worried American voters as whining, depressed basket cases is, well, insane. Read the entire article

These remarks came from a millionaire Republican, this is the conventional thinking of these rich, Reagan idolizing, selfish Republicans. They think that supply side economics solves everything and if you can't make it then it's your fault and you should get off your ass and stop whining. Those cock roaches don't care if the majority of people are struggling as along as they and their love ones are making a killing. Republicans Pols are fucking theives, half of them should be locked up in jail some where and the rest should be sent packing.
